The Positive Place for Kids

Who We Are

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of
children are at home with no adult care or supervision, yet young people need to know that someone cares about them.

The Boys & Girls Club offers this and more. The Club's programs and services promote and enhance the development of children by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. They are truly The Positive Place For Kids.

Our Mission
Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Our goal is to provide every child with the essential tools needed for a successful and bright future. Our Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, life-enhancing programs and character development experiences, hope, and opportunity.

Our Facilities
Our main facility is located at 71-77 Merchants Row in downtown Rutland, we have more than 6,700 square feet of space. The site has a Junior Club for ages 6-12 and a Teen Center for ages 13-18. Our club features a computer lab, an art room, teen center, games-room, a kitchen, snack bar, and more.

Our Gym Facility is located on 21 Merchants Row. It provides us with the opportunity to conduct daily fitness and recreation programs.

In December of 2007, the Boys & Girls Club opened a brand new unit in the Forest Park Community Center at 128 Forest Street. The Forest Park Unit shares a space with Rutland County Head Start, and offers many of the same programs as our downtown facility. In addition, the site also features a spacious playing field, an outdoor basketball court, and is within walking distance of Meadow Street Park.

In June of 2009, the Boys & Girls Club partnered with
several members of the Brandon area to found a new unit in Brandon, VT on 25 Rossiter Street. The Brandon Unit offers many of the Boys & Girls Club programs now familiar to Rutland youth to the young people of Brandon, Forestdale, Goshen, Leicester, Pittsford, Sudbury and Whiting. The site offers a designated teen center, computer lab, art room, rec room, tutoring space and outdoor play area with daily afterschool programs, athletics, crafts, nutritious snacks and meals, and other special activities.
